FARM INFORMATION
Kamuyu is one of the washing stations owned by the Mutheka Farmers’ Cooperative Society in Nyeri, Central Kenya. The head office is located just outside Nyeri town on the slopes of the Aberdare range. The factory organizes training workshops for farmers.
The Kirinyaga region is known for its intense and complex coffees. The smallholders who deliver cherries to factories owned by Mutheka FCS have an average of 250 coffee trees each. Other crops grown are corn, bananas and beans!
In Nyeri: there are owners with small to medium farms. Those who do not have their own processing equipment deliver cherries to their local cooperative. Most coffees are grown under the shade of Gravelia and Muringa Alloevella trees. Many of the farmers are surrounded by several wet mills and can choose where they want to deliver their cherries
